How to restore/download backups With Acronis Backup on cPanel Print

1. What is Acronis Backup?

Acronis Backup is a powerful backup and disaster recovery solution that integrates directly into your cPanel interface. It allows you to backup and restore files, databases, emails, and entire accounts with just a few clicks.

 

2. Where can I access Acronis Backup in cPanel?

To access Acronis Backup:

  1. Log in to your cPanel account.

  2. Scroll down to the Files section.

  3. Click on Acronis Backup

  4. Click on the backup date from where you want to restore your files

3. What can I restore using Acronis Backup?

You can restore the following:

  • Domains: This includes subdomains and addons. 
  • Files and directories: Specific or entire files and Directories

  • Databases: Any available database during the backup date can be rolled back or restored

  • Mailboxes and email messages: Specific or entire Email accounts and email data

  • Entire cPanel account:  Click on the Recover the entire account button in the screenshot and all files will be restored in one click.

 

4. How do I restore a specific file or folder?

  1. Open Acronis Backup in cPanel.

  2. Navigate to the desired backup date using the calendar or timeline.

  3. Click Files 

  4. Browse to the folder or file you want to restore.

  5. Select it and click Recover.

  6. Confirm the restoration process.

  7. Note that you can also download the file or folder by clicking the Download button

 

 

5. How do I restore a database?

  1. In Acronis Backup, select a backup date.

  2. Click Databases.

  3. Choose the database you want to restore.

  4. Click Recover and confirm the action.

 

 

NB: The same steps apply to recover/download the “Domains”, “Mailboxes”, “Mail forwarders” etc from the backups.

 

6. Can I restore my entire cPanel account?

Yes, full account recovery is possible. To do so:

  1. Go to Acronis Backup.

  2. Select a backup date you want to restore.

  3. Click on the Recover the account button.

⚠️ This will overwrite everything in your current cPanel account.

 

 

NB: If you want to download full backup of the cPanel account, CLICK on Export the Account Button and start Export.  The files will be downloaded as a ZIP archive.

 

Also, you can use the Recovery Operations Log to see successful, in-progress and failed recovery operations conducted on the account.

 

7. Is the restore process safe? Will it overwrite my current data?

  • Restoring files or databases will overwrite existing data unless you download and manually place them elsewhere.

  • Acronis does not automatically back up post-restore changes, so always ensure you backup/download current data first if needed.
