Everything you add to a page in Website Builder is created using content elements.
These elements are the core building blocks of your website, allowing you to add text, images, buttons, forms, and more.
Before you start adding elements, it helps to understand how Website Builder is structured.
What Content Elements Are
Content elements are individual pieces of content that make up your page. Each item you place on your page, whether it is text, an image, or a button, is treated as a separate element.
These elements sit inside sections, which help control spacing, alignment, and overall layout.
How Drag-and-Drop Works
To add a content element:
- Select the element from the editor panel
- Drag it onto the page
- Drop it in your preferred position
While dragging, a blue guide line appears. This line shows exactly where the element will be placed when you release it.
As you continue adding elements, the page automatically expands to accommodate them.
Understanding Layout Placement
Content elements can be arranged in two main ways:
- Stacked vertically: Elements appear one above another
- Placed side-by-side: Elements sit next to each other within the same section
The layout depends on the structure of the section you are working in. Sections define how elements behave and how much space they occupy.
Content elements control the layout within a page, while you manage pages and navigation separately.
Universal Element Controls
Every content element includes three standard controls:
Move
Use the center handle to drag and reposition an element anywhere within the page.
Copy
Duplicate an element and reuse it either on the same page or on another page. This is useful for maintaining consistent design.
Delete
Click the X icon to remove an element permanently.
Important: Deleting an element cannot always be undone. Always confirm before removing important content.
Working with Different Elements
All content types follow the same structure. Text blocks, images, buttons, and icons are all content elements.
For example, you can add and edit text blocks to organize written content within your layout.
Layout Best Practices
To maintain a clean and effective layout:
- Avoid placing too many elements in a single section
- Use separate elements for different types of content
- Keep spacing consistent across sections
- Review your layout before publishing
Well-structured layouts improve readability and ensure your website looks good on both desktop and mobile devices.
Make Your Changes Live
Changes made inside the editor are not automatically visible on your live website.
After arranging your content elements, remember to publish your website.
